Mefasa (Mecanizaciones y Fabricaciones S.A.U.), founded in 1965 in San Juan de Nieva, Aviles, on the Asturian coast of northern Spain, is a wholly owned subsidiary of Asturiana de Zinc that combines heavy industrial engineering with bespoke superyacht construction. Operating its own deep-water dock on the Bay of Aviles, the yard builds large aluminium and steel custom motor yachts and ketches without size limitation, partnering with leading naval architects such as Don Shead Yacht Design. Notable Mefasa builds include the 35-metre Don Shead-designed motor yacht Providence (1993), the 36.6-metre Corona del Mar (1991) and the 41-metre ketch Alejandra (1993), all engineered for transatlantic range and long-term ownership.
